Various fragments from my ongoing body of work exploring the continuum of burnings in Europe, including the Crusades, the Witch Hunts, the Black Plague pogroms, and the Shoah. A land of holy wars and ashes and ruins of ancient gods. Three thousand years of burial mounds. The terrain of my father’s family.

Much of this work undertaken during th Haut de Fee residency in Serecourt, Vosges (France), and upcoming fellowship at Oberpfalzer Kunstlerhaus in Schwandorf, Bavaria (Germany).

Maybe in making art of resistance, we must accept and then ignore its contemporary inutility, its contemporary uselessness, its awkward, impractical, magnificent powerful pointlessness and instead communicate directly with a distant future we envision but may never see.
